Designer (Aug 06) – Folder/brochure design
One project I was given was to create a new design for a brochure folder. The folder was for a garden furniture company requiring a clean new image. I submitted a few designs, one of which was selected and printed, while also incorporating the client’s requisites. The client was pleased with the result and is using the brochure folder for the second season.
Mark Hansford Computer Repairs – Computer Technician
During the holidays I worked as a computer technician in my fathers company. The job involved both hardware and software problem solving. Trouble shooting some problems, was particularly challenging, particularly intermittent faults. Protecting customers’ data during the repair was paramount.
Royal Mail - (July 03 – Dec 05) -Sorting & Deliveries
After my A-levels, I managed to get a temporary job in the Royal Mail. Firstly I was sent on a 2 week training course on safety and working regulations. I returned to this job during holidays, for two years between my studies at Teesside. I enjoyed the social side of this and have made friends with many of my colleagues.
Golf Club – (July 03) – Kitchen assistant / waiter
A temporary summer job, I worked in the restaurant at local Golf club. During my kitchen training I learned a lot about health and safety, which was put in to practice when serving food, and keeping the kitchen in order. During this job I learnt the importance of customer relations.
